Dear Friends,

I hope you’re well.

I’m getting around to this winter newsletter rather late in the season. I know in some places it feels more like Spring, but here in the mountains, there’s still snow on the ground. Despite the snow, we’ve had quite a few sunny days recently and it’s amazing what a difference that can make. I’m beginning to see a light at the end of this cold and grey tunnel, and am envisioning walks in the woods with spring flowers exploding along the trails.

This month, I released my 12th podcast episode and it marked one year since Blood’s Call began. For that episode, I spoke with Daniel Drennan ElAwar, an artist and Lebanese adoptee who returned to Lebanon to search for his biological family. It was such a heartfelt conversation and I was so grateful to be able to speak with him. If you missed it, you can listen to it HERE.

I’d like to thank all of the podcast guests and contributing writers over this past year, starting with my wonderful brother, Paul, who was given up for adoption before I was born. It’s been an honor to have these conversations, and read your stories. It’s also been humbling. To hear the grace that has emerged in the midst of your complicated journeys has been very inspiring. I’ve truly LOVED speaking with all of you.

With the change in seasons, there will be some changes in my life and schedule. Once the snow is melted, I’ll begin a few outside projects that will take quite a bit of time and energy. Currently, I’m in the midst of recording some new songs. Once finished, they will be available for purchase on my website, and two of the songs, which are about family roots, will be a gift for my supporters on Patreon. Following that, it’s full force back to writing.

After a lot of thought, I have, very reluctantly, decided to take a break from posting on Blood’s Call. It takes so much time, energy, and brain space to keep it going. And because I have so many things on my plate right now, including my job, I’ve begun to feel spread a little thin. In the meantime, Blood’s Call will still be there for you to catch up on whatever you’ve missed.

I’m so grateful for the support I’ve received this past year and for the personal connections I’ve made. And for those of you who have continued to reach out, I love hearing from you and I hope our conversations continue.

With much Love,

J. Rebeca
